Presidential Election rally by Mr Tan Jee Say

The rally will be at Toa Payoh Stadium on Tuesday, August 23, between 7pm and 10pm. See you there! Heh.

The police have issued the first Presidential Election rally permit.

Mr Tan Jee Say will hold a rally at Toa Payoh Stadium on Tuesday, August 23, between 7pm and 10pm.

The police on Tuesday issued a list of nine rally sites for the Presidential Election - eight sports stadiums, and a site at Boat Quay next to UOB Plaza meant only for lunchtime rallies.

Rally meetings can be held from August 18 to 25 between 7am and 10pm.

Each candidate will be allowed to hold only one outdoor election meeting at the designated locations, and this is inclusive of the option to hold a lunchtime rally.

Candidates will have to apply for permits from the police.

Permits issued for the outdoor rallies, along with their corresponding date and time, will be available on the Singapore Police Force website at

The police advise that rally-goers take the public transport as traffic congestion can be expected at the roads leading to the rally sites during the campaigning period.

Election meeting organisers are reminded to strictly comply with the conditions and restrictions on election meetings stated under the Public Order (Election Meetings) Regulations.

Meanwhile, the police said candidates contesting the Presidential Election or their election agents may apply for permits to carry out post-election vehicle processions to thank voters.

Applications for these permits can be made from Nomination Day on August 17 to September 3.

But the processions can only be held after Polling Day, from August 28 to September 3.
