Daphne Iking enticement case is FINALLY over!!

Finally the case is over. Daphne Iking must be very relieved.

In a shocking turn of events, Darren Choy has declared that he is not the biological father of Isobel Daniella Iking Chong. He has also been acquitted and discharged of his enticement case involving showbiz personality Daphne Iking.

The parties in the case reached a settlement involving a public apology by Choy to Iking's ex-husband Ryan Chong Yiing Yih, said Choy's lawyer Datuk Jagjit Singh Monday.

Corporate figure Choy was discharged and acquitted from the charge of enticing TV presenter Daphne Iking after the complainant in the case, Iking's ex-husband Chong, withdrew the private prosecution.

Magistrate Engku Ahmad Rashdi Engku Abdillah made the decision on Monday after being informed by Choy's lawyer Jagjit that the parties in the case have reached a settlement that involved a public apology by Choy to Chong.

In the statement read out in court by Jagjit Monday, Choy declared:

1. I, Darren Choy, does duly hereby acknowledge that my relationship with Daphne Iking has caused embarrassment and humiliation to Ryan Chong, his parents, siblings and relatives.

2. I do further acknowledge that my relationship with Daphne Iking has resulted in a private prosecution by Ryan Chong against me being the subject matter of the current proceedings in court.

3. I regret that the issues raised in the cross-examination by my counsel may have tarnished and sullified the reputation, character and image of Ryan Chong, his parents, siblings and relatives.

4. I further acknowledge the allegations:

i) that Ryan Chong has promised money to any woman in China for keeping confidential any relationship in China; ii) that Ryan Chong has promised Daphne Iking money when she agreed to marry Ryan Chong; iii) that Ryan Chong was promised inheritance by his grandfather; on hindsight may now appear to be questionable and I do hereby retract these allegations.

5. I do hereby state that I am not the biological father of Isabel Daniella Iking Chong.

6. I do hereby tender my sincere and unreserved apology to Ryan Chong, his parents and siblings.

It is understood that the apology will be published in major newspapers Tuesday.

he enticement case against former Adidas managing director Darren Choy Khin Ming ended today after he apologised to the former husband of TV personality Daphne Iking.

His counsel Datuk Jagjit Singh read out a letter dated today in which Choy apologised to Ryan Chong Yin Yih for his sexual liaison with Iking, who was then married to the 33-year-old businessman.

But he denied that he was the father of three-year-old Isobel Daniella Iking Chong, who had been established by DNA tests as not being the daughter of Ryan Chong.

Magistrate Engku Ahmad Rashidi Engku Abdillah declared the case closed after Chong's lawyer Wong Kian Kheong told him that his client did not intend to pursue his private summons against Choy.

Choy, 46, was accused of enticing Iking to have sexual relations with him at The Plaza in Taman Tun Dr Ismail here between July 2007 and September 2008.

In the letter, Choy said he was sorry that his affair with Iking had led to the private summons against him.

He was also sorry that during the trial issues were raised that adversely affected Chong and his family.

"I sincerely apologise to Chong, his parents and his whole family," he said.

Choy and Chong, who had kept their distance during the trial which began on Nov 29 last, later shook hands.

Corporate figure Darren Choy Khin Ming, 46, was acquitted Monday of enticing TV personality Daphne Iking, after he agreed to apologise to her ex-husband for causing him embarrassment over the affair. In the apology read out in court by Choy's lawyer Datuk Jagjit Singh, Choy acknowledged that his relationship with Iking, 33, has caused humiliation to businessman Ryan Chong Yiing Yih, 33, his parents, siblings and relatives.

Choy also stated that he was not the biological father of Iking's three-year-old daughter Isobel Daniella Iking-Chong.

He expressed his regret that the issues raised in cross-examination by his counsels may have tarnished and sullied the reputation, character and image of Chong and his family.

He retracted several allegations brought up during cross-examination, where Chong allegedly promised Iking money when she agreed marry him and that Chong was promised an RM8mil inheritance by his late grandfather.

Magistrate Engku Ahmad Rashdi Engku Abdillah then ordered the discharge and acquittal after Chong's lawyer Wong Kian Kheong applied to drop the charge, in compliance with Section 254 of the Criminal Procedure Code, following the apology.

"This is the kind of settlement that the court has always hoped for before any trial takes place. The court is satisfied that a settlement is agreed upon. The accused is hereby discharged and acquitted," said Engku Ahmad Rashdi.

Choy was accused of enticing Iking, knowing that she was a married woman, with the intention of having sexual intercourse.

He allegedly committed the offence at a condominium unit in Taman Tun Dr Ismail here between July 2007 and September 2009.
