Accident of SBS bus 51

In the need for speed? Not really. Or not determined yet. One of the passengers described how the bus driver couldn't stop the bus. Human error? Or is there something else contributing to this mishap?

Twenty-one passengers were injured when the SBS bus they were in ploughed into a bus stop in Eunos Link.

The accident happened at about noon on Saturday.

According to victims, everything came and went in a flash.

"The driver couldn't control his brakes and engine. The bus was speeding away and it hit three cars ahead of us. The passengers were screaming. And a few of them rushed forward to tell the bus driver to stop the bus, but he couldn't stop the bus," recalled Shanti Daniel, a passenger on SBS Service 51.

Passengers said the bus then travelled for another hundred metres before crashing into the ceiling of a bus stop at Eunos Link.

"Many people were injured. But many people came forward to help us and dragged us out of the bus. I fell backwards and somebody helped me to get up and brought me out of the bus," said Daniel.

So what's your point, I can hear someone asking.

The news about the accident has yet so far had any follow-up articles about it. In the 2007 article, I couldn't find any further news revealing more about the accident. It's a pity if we can't learn from the past incident and/or unwilling to share the lessons.
