Light over the Chaophraya (Saeg-Sathaa Nue Lam Nam Chaophraya)

“Light over the Chaophraya (Saeg-Sathaa Nue Lam Nam Chaophraya)”

24 June 1932 was the day that forever changed the course of Thai history. The political incident that took place on that day and power struggle between fractions that followed has been well documented. Yet, they rarely throw the light on the effect of this incident on ordinary Thai lives.

To commemorate 110 year of Pridi Banomyong – the man behind the Thai democratic revolution, the Faculty of Communication Arts at Chulalongkorn University and Pridi Banomyong Insititute invite you to “Light over the Chaophraya (Saeg-Sathaa Nue Lam Nam Chaophraya)” – a stage play by the Department of Performing Arts that explores the 1932 revolution through the eyes of Thai women. Detailed accounts of the day and how it affected each woman’s life provide different voices and perspectives polyphony – to this historical incidence.
